DEVISING TECHNIQUES

Physical Theatre Course

This Devising Techniques Physical Theatre Course is a space to learn devising methodologies to make new experimental theatre.

Stimulate, Research, create, devise. Make the theatre of the future.

In this Course students will be working on structure of composition, dramaturgical devising and collaborative process of making.

FOCUS OF THE COURSE IS ON:

COLLABORATION.

We facilitate the creation and development of a shared language, negotiating the tension between collective and individual decisions. Each creative process is unique, therefore we tailor exercises to each group to strengthen communication and cooperation processes.

DRAMATURGICAL DEVISING

Our goal is for participants to independently devise narrative structures and find new storytelling methods. We interweave content and form, by exploring the arc of a story, the driving forces, stakes, characters and archetypes, and by creating a physical language that unifies the story.

RESEARCH LED PROCESS.

We propose an enquiry project where participants undertake theoretical and practical research  to create new work. Participants will be invited to think critically about how other practices inform their own. This provides an opportunity to generate an interdisciplinary dialogue between mediums and approaches.

PEER FEEDBACK.

Challenge yourself to recognise what works and what can be improved. Question one another and exchange knowledge. We will prepare you to understand your group dynamics and recognise the right times to give feedback, and how to do so constructively.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This Devising Techniques Physical Theatre Course is a great opportunity to learn how to make new original theatre and exploring the dynamics of collaborative and ensemble work through devising processes.

This training is open to performers, actors, directors, writers, dancers, choreographer, interested in making theatre and wanting to work collaboratively.

We truly believe in the power of collaboration, playful imagination, and democracy of creation as essential qualities to shape the theatre of the future and new performance languages.
